been going back in forth with my mom (who is a longtime pioneer and dyed-in-the-wool jw) about the term apostate.
she has labeled me one because of my fading and because i stopped attending meetings a few years ago.
i told her that i refuse to accept the term apostate because its a lazy way for the wts to not deal with dissenters and address why people are leaving this organization in droves.
You're right, BlackMan. It is laziness.
JWs spend a huge amount of time congratulating and validating each other. They are completely stumped when someone gets out of the line. It's just easy to point fingers and gossip.
so what have been your experiences with sleep paralysis?
any connection to astral projection?
this has interested me recently as i used to have sleep paralysis quite often years ago.
My best friend in high school had episodes often. She would tell me that she'd awaken from sleep and be completely immobilized. She estimated that the episodes would last several minutes. She would have difficulty breathing and felt as if something was pressing her body, holding her down. She'd fall back to sleep easily and never had a sleep study done.
She eventually outgrew it and hasn't had any issues since our mid twenties.
there is a marvelous greek word for what an actor does in a play as he assumes an identity other than his own.
and proceeds to affect behaviors which convince an audience every word and deed performed is the gods' honest truth.. do you know the word?.
the word is ??
I was given my script. It was the role of a lifetime. / The delusion quickly wears off.
Why?
No credit is given.
You aren't a hero. You get no Brownie points.
There are no parades or celebrations and no awards. You soon discover you have traded integrity for a GREAT BIG NOTHING but feeling like a fool.
So true, Terry. Especially for born-ins. Such crap.
simon i love you to bits but your forum is old fashioned.. .
in 6 weeks i would like this forum to stream live tv.. .
if simon listens what would tv.jw.net look like?.
rofl
The long time JWs I know (the few I've spoken with anyway) are starting to get a weird vibe about it all. They were all gungho initially. But they've started making jokes now and being very sarcastic about it all.
This tv channel seems to have pushed them over the edge. Will have to see how it all settles in a while.
But yes, the newbies are really gushing about it all. They don't remember WT's harsh judgements against the internet and televanglism years ago.
i know this is a long post, but it seems to me that the watchtower society has pretty much got every single item covered.. bite = behavior, information, thought, emotion.
behavior control.
1. regulate individuals physical reality .
FF- you're right. they've pretty much got it figured out. We were out before I learned about the defining criteria for cults. Definitely helpful information.
Ooooooh! you guysaren'tserious! roflmao.
silly me.
What is so successful about JW.org? That there is a website? So what. That the witnesses are talking about it? Directing people to it?
My multi-generational JW family thinks it's quickly getting out of hand and becoming a joke. And the tv thing? I had several family members at the annual meeting last weekend. Their thoughts on the tv.jw.org? "eh, whatever., what the hell are we, televangelists now?"
I don't get it. Are you guys serious?
